Fostering hope and dignity through exemplary care, advocacy, education and research for individuals living with the challenges of a life-limiting illness or loss.
Ian Anderson House, Ontario’s first in-resident cancer hospice offers without charge, quality end-of-life palliative care by trained medical professionals, for those who, for whatever reason, cannot be given the necessary round-the-clock care in their own homes. The House, therefore, is designed to create a homelike and safe environment where residents receive round-the-clock care.
At Ian Anderson House the focus is on quality of life with an emphasis on maintaining the independence and respecting the dignity of our residents. True to hospice philosophy, Ian Anderson House also understands the need to support the family as a unit.
Why We Fundraise
Most of us - including our friends and family members - will ultimately face a life-limiting illness and loss. In fact, as the population ages and the structure of our health care system evolves, there are few options for the terminally ill who need physical, emotional and spiritual support. The Ian Anderson House fills that critical void.
True to the philosophy of hospice we offer care to our residents without charge. Our operating cost, which allows us to provide the high quality 24 hour care that is necessary at the end-of-life, is currently $2045.00 per day. In order to offer the medical care and the number of staff that is expected and necessary in a hospice environment we must currently raise an additional $800,000.00 a year for annual operating costs.
In order to continue to offer our care and support, without charge, we rely on the generosity of individuals, service clubs, foundations, local businesses and on fundraising events.
