2014 Redpath Toronto Area Hospice Regatta Raises over $25,500 for The Dorothy Ley Hospice

June 27, 2014

Thank you to all of the competitors, sponsors and supporters of the 2014 Redpath Toronto Area Hospice Regatta!

This year’s regatta hosted 47 boats in six competitive divisions. Saturday proved to be a challenging day of racing with very shifty winds, but thanks to the nimbleness of the race committee, they were able to run four races on each course. On Sunday, the conditions were ideal and allowed for another four races. Congratulations to Cesar Gomes Neto and his team on Melges 20 “Portobello” as they are the Overall Champions of the 2014 Redpath Toronto Area Hospice Regatta. This great accomplishment qualifies Cesar to compete in the annual National Hospice Alliance Regatta Championship next spring. Congratulations Cesar!

We are also pleased to announce that the 2014 TAHR raised over $25,500 for The Dorothy Ley Hospice. This is an accomplishment of which to be proud because over the past seven years, through the generous donations from TAHR competitors, sponsors and supporters, our sailing community has come together to raise over $155,500 for hospice care. By returning to this event each year, it is the competitors who keep it going and who continue to make a positive difference to people living with the challenges of end of life care. A special thank you goes out to everyone who took part in our silent auction on Saturday after racing. Thanks to you, we raised a record high of over $5,100, all of which went to The Dorothy Ley Hospice.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our title sponsor, Redpath for their extreme generosity and help to build awareness of and raise money for hospice care, an important and often overlooked segment of our healthcare system. We were honoured to have Redpath as title sponsor because Redpath’s strong commitment to give back to the community, aligns perfectly with the spirit of the TAHR. Redpath is an important part of the energy of Toronto’s waterfront and we appreciate and welcome their efforts to build and maintain positive relationships with people who actively use our waterfront and who, just like Redpath, call it home.

Thank you again for joining the National Yacht Club and our sailing community in our tradition of caring and generosity in helping to make a meaningful difference in hospice care.

Redpath - Title Sponsor of the 7th Annual Toronto Area Hospice Regatta

, December 1, 2013

The Toronto Area Hospice Regatta (TAHR) Organizing Committee is pleased to announce that Redpath has signed on to become the title sponsor of the 2014 Redpath Toronto Area Hospice Regatta that will take place June 14-15, 2014, at the National Yacht Club in Toronto.

Redpath’s generous support of this event will help this seventh annual charity regatta reach its fundraising goal of $20,000, in support of The Dorothy Ley Hospice – a palliative care residence in Toronto for individuals who have a limited life expectancy.

Redpath’s support will also help to provide the foundation for what will be a remarkable regatta for competitors, providing them with what they’ve come to expect at this event – two days of competitive one design racing, an excellent race management team and the exciting shore side events and hospitality of one of Canada’s oldest sailing clubs, the National Yacht Club.

We are honoured and excited to have Redpath as the title sponsor of the regatta. Redpath is an important part of Toronto’s waterfront community, not only because it is a unique and functioning landmark steeped in history, but also because of Redpath’s contribution to the spirit and energy of the Toronto waterfront. Redpath’s strong commitment to give back to the community aligns perfectly with the TAHR. Together, Redpath and the TAHR will help to build awareness of and raise money for an important and often overlooked segment of our healthcare system – hospice care.

We are thrilled to be able to share this excitement with all competitors and invite 11 one design classes to become part of the sailing community’s tradition of caring and generosity by registering now at www.yachtscoring.com. The 2014 Redpath Toronto Area Hospice Regatta will be the highlight of the 2014 sailing season and we look forward to seeing you there!
